How do I setup domain-aliases/pointers/sub-domains?
Assume for this example that you have a domain mydomain.com. When we setup this domain we automatically setup a few domain aliases: www.mydomain.com, mail.mydomain.com and ftp.mydomain.com. Depending on your plan you may be able to create a number of subdomains. We operate with two terms: Alias-subdomains and User-subdomains.
For the example here, anything under your domain name we call a user-subdomain. This could for example be: gallery.mydomain.com, forums.mydomain.com, joe.mydomain.com. User-subdomains are automatically created every time you create a user in the system. In this example you just need to create the users gallery, forums and joe. In each of these users home-directory will be a "public_html" directory, and whatever that contains will be the content of that user-subdomain. User-subdomains are also available as standard user websites under the main domain, i.e. mydomain.com/~gallery, mydomain.com/~forums and mydomain.com/~joe.
Any other domain names, for example myotherdomain.com or mydomain.net, we consider Alias-subdomains. Alias-subdomains are setup on request - simply open a ticket in the helpdesk with the Alias-subdomain you would like to add. You can find the URL to the helpdesk in the welcome mail you received when you signed up.
For both User- and Alias-subdomains we have to add DNS entries. Please open a ticket in the support desk for this.

Do I get shell access?

Can I have anonymous FTP or SSL on my website?
Yes, only certain plans -- you'll have to convert to a unique IP based site, and you'll have to pay the setup and monthly costs ($25 setup and $2 per month for the unique IP).
Can I use standard .htaccess controls to directories and files?
Yes. If you do NOT use FrontPage or FrontPage extensions, you can use .htaccess. Otherwise, you must use the FrontPage Permissions Management Interface utility in your control panel to control file and directory access. You cannot use both. Do not manually create or edit .htaccess files if you are using FrontPage extensions. This does cause problems.
What, specifically, do you do to prevent spam from reaching our mail boxes?
All incoming mail is checked against the RBL (Relay Block Lists) of ordb.org and the dynamic spam-blocking of spamcop.net. We find that between the two we have a good balance of catching most spam while not preventing legitimate mail from entering.
Can we ban specific IP addresses or ranges?
Yes. We can ban an IP address or range from the server. Please provide the details of any offence and the specifics of how you determined the IP address to ban and what steps you took to identify the source.
What if I forgot my password?
Just open a ticket in our helpdesk and we will reset your password(s). As long as you can get into your site control panel, you can change/reset most passwords yourself.
